THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE WHO NEGLECT OR CANNOT AFFORD THE HIGH COSTS AT THE VETINARYHOSPITALS TO PREVENT THE PET POPULATION. THERE SHOULD ALSO BE PROGRAMS TO HELP THOSE COMMUNITY CATS THAT ARE IN COMPLIANCE WITH CLINICS FOR THOSE WHO PROVIDE FOOD AND SHELTER FOR THESE UNHOUSED CATS/DOGS. I USED TO LIVE IN FRESNO AT THE TORREY RIDGE APARTMENTS AND FED ABOUT 10 CATS WHO LIVED BEHIND US. I FELT BAD WHEN I LEFT AS IT APPEARS TENANTS ALWAYS SEEM TO LEAVE THEIR PETS BEHIND!!
I would like to support that the Paws be alloted more funds to help spay and neuter more animals in our community. They are working on a shoestring budget and they do so much for our community to help keep the pet population down. If we don't support the rescues I. Our city, moresnimals will be dumped in our neighborshoods. Please reconsider the amount.to a larger amount Thank you
We have a serious issue of over population of dogs and cats in Fresno County. So serious they're putting puppies and kittens down. In all my 63 years I have never seen so many dumped dogs everywhere. We need low spay and neuters to control this situation! It's heartbreaking to see this yet they get raises! Put more money into helping with the over population instead of filling pockets! Go watch how many dogs they're killing due to over population. Maybe that will open some eyes!
Please please I'm begging you to increase the budget for spay and neuter, it looks like usual politics when your budget goes to over paid top brass, not even basic employees, if you put the money in prevention instead of the usual "we're to full, we have to kill the animals now. So I'm pleading with you, put the money where it's needed. Thank you
Far too much money spent on “administration” and not enough on the animals. Primary purpose is for benefit of animals not pay high salaries with little results. FAC depends on local rescues & fosters who give their own resources. Also, include all established rescues, not just a few.
Please give us funding so we can continue eradicating the overpopulation of cats. The groups that are doing this are all nonprofit and need financial. Help to continue.
I am currently fostering 4 kittens from Fresno Animal Center, This funding is imperative to keep the stray/feral cat population under control. These kittens and cats did not ask to be homeless or be born wild and vulnerable. As a community we need help with this funding to help these innocent animals and stop the cycle of cruelty. Matthew 25:40. “And the King will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.'” All creatures great and small deserve to be cared for in a humane loving and kindness and that includes responsible spay and neuter to stop this cycle. I am imploring you to make the right decision in helping these innocent animals. Thank you.
As someone who has lived in the Central Valley my entire life, over the last decade I’ve wanted to leave. One of the biggest reasons is seeing the city I grew up in filled with sick, abandoned and stray animals. Everyday I leave my home, I see a handful of animals wandering the streets, scared hungry and often injured. I’m appalled the city of Fresno doesn’t want to do anything more to educate and bring more funds to addressing this issue. I was just made aware of the tiny budget being allocated for spay and neuter services, and was confused as to why 5 million dollars was going to salaries and only a few hundred thousand for spay/ neuter services. As a concerned resident who has poured my own funds into helping animals I’ve found I the streets, I think the city of Fresno needs to do more to address the concerns of our residents. There are pages and pages of rescue groups in our community with hundreds of pleads for the community to help stray and injured animals. Thousands of people follow these pages and leave in tears because nothing is being done. I remember visiting a 3rd world country as a child and that’s exactly what our downtown looks and feels like. Fresno is not a place people want to visit. It’s become both a depressing and hopeless place to live. I would really like to see our elected officials do more to tackle this issue and allocate more funds to save animals and reduce the population crisis.
Please support funding for spay and neuter programs in Fresno County. These programs help reduce animal overpopulation, prevent suffering, lower shelter intake numbers, and save taxpayer dollars. Please please please!! we need this production to stop. I have four homeless cats in front of my house every day. It's super sad. I've spayed all my animals. All my cats stay inside. We FRESNO need this so bad. People are too irresponsible.
PLEASE allocate more money towards FREE spay and neutering programs for Fresno residents. The city is out of control with overpopulation of dogs and cats. This is a CRISIS SITUATION! Please allocate less for salaries and MORE for spaying and neutering programs. We will not be able to get ahold of this crisis unless more animals are spayed and neutered for FREE!!

Spay and neuter is a tried and true method of reducing pet overpopulation. Fresno is in crisis with the number of cats and dogs the city has, that remain intact. Supporting a low-cost spay and neuter will not only save money in the long run for the city, but also reduce suffering for animals. Having a realistic talk with what that support will look like, is necessary, as vet med cost are raising, people are in financial crisis, and animals keep reproducing.
Please help support a realistic means to ending the overpopulated streets and shelters, by increasing the budget and proving an understanding of what is needed for this to continue moving in the right direction.
