I honestly have no idea why more funds are not allocated to spay and neuter. We are in such a serious crisis with all the animals running around Fresno and I can’t understand why the city is not willing to help more. All of you have to see how serious the situation is every time you drive around town and see an animal running the streets. We have to stop this. The first way is to make sure they are all spayed and neutered so they at least cannot contribute to more offspring. Please open your eyes and see people people in (Rescue) and Animal Lovers need HELP from you and more funds towards spay and neuter would be a great help. Rescues, shelters and animal lovers are tired. We work hard to take care of this problem and we would like you to be involved a little bit more. Please allocate more funds so we can try to get ahead of this problem.

Please give more funding for spay/ neuters. Fresno possesses an ever growing over population of stray dogs & puppies and cats/ kittens being reproduced, dumped or abandoned.

I completely oppose the fact that you’re not putting enough money towards Spay and Neuter! Animals are suffering and dying on our streets. The shelters are at Max and are constantly turning people away. Animals are being euthanized on a daily just for room. The only way we are going to stop this crisis is to put more money into low cost spay and neuter clinics. I want my tax money to be put towards this and not towards lining your pockets.
The organizations in our area need more funding to help with the overwhelming numbers of unaltered animals in our community. We have a growing populations of stray cats in our community that people are paying out of pocket to spay/neuter to help the control the overpopulation. Lots of pet parents are having difficulties finding an affordable option for spay/neuter services. So we have more pets being born into the community that can’t be taken care of which in turn causes many people to dump or turn pets into the shelters. Which causes our shelter staff to be overworked and overwhelmed. Some unaltered pets will develop tumors or pyometra which will either kill the pet or be another thing an owner can’t afford.
Fresno desperately needs funding to control the cat/dog population through neuter/spay programs. The cat population especially is out of control and unless we make funding available for groups like Fresno TNR to keep working to control populations, we are doomed. We need cats to keep down the rodent population but they cannot be allowed to breed out of control. Please provide the funding necessary for spay/neuter programs so we may maintain a healthy ecological balance of animals/prey.
The funding for the dogs and cats should be 7 million and your salaries should be $220,000. It should be the other way around. Come on. You guys quit being greedy.

Morning might need to set aside for spare neuter of animals. There is so many abuse and abandon animals around this city in county. Government officials are often overpaid and they definitely don’t do it enough work to compensate. Money needs to be spent to help the situations of our city and county not to make employees rich.
I am in opposition of the budget allocation for FY 2027 for Fresno Animal Center re: spay/neuter services for community animals. It is detrimental to the future of the shelter to not allocate enough funds for community outreach, education and coverage of spay/neuter. Continuing to operate the shelter as-is is just a band-aid to the overall problem. If any of you on the council are animal lovers, you should agree that more funds need to be moved to fix these animals that continue to breed and perpetuate the overpopulation and suffering of animals in our community.
