1-S ID 20-00493 Consider emergency amendment to FMC Article 5, Emergency Services Ordinance, to extend the eviction moratorium for so long as the City's declaration of local emergency is in effect (requires 5 affirmative votes).
I fully support the item, so many people in our community are being effected by COVID-19 and to not extend the rent moratorium would further the trauma our community is experiencing. Please support humane treatment of our city and extend the moratorium.
In these uncertain times, the people should feel protected and relieved of any pressing anxiety that this pandemic has cause. This includes extending the Shelter In Place order to continue to keep the community safe. And also securing the people in their homes without fear of evictions/foreclosures
We need to help those families in need when some have lost their jobs and unemployment is hard to to receive due to the amount of people trying to get it. People shouldn't have to worry about another problem stacked with lost jobs, getting sick, and being sheltered. I support this item.
A parent should not be forced to choose between their housing and their children's health and safety just because they are a renter.
"I urge you all to extend the emergency eviction ordinance and set up the emergency funds."
I support the agenda. It is important to protect community of Fresno and other surrounding communities of covid-19 by further extending the shelter in place. Thank you
Thank you for your leadership in extending and strengthening the emergency eviction order. No one should be fearful of losing their home during the immediate Covid-19 crisis nor after the emergency orders are lifted. Continue to protect Fresno residents. Extend and strengthen the order.
I support the agenda item that place in shelter should be extended until necessary and that we don’t put our communities at risk from another wave of COVID 19, which will presumably be worse than this first one.
WHY IS THIS EVEN A TOPIC OF DISCUSSION? THERE IS MORE FUNDAMENTAL AND ESSENTIAL MATTERS THAT SHOULD BE GIVEN ATTENTION. YET, HERE I AM MAKING A REQUEST THAT SHOULD BE OF COMMON SENSE. WHAT HAPPENED TO ALL YOU DREAMERS? HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A HUMAN BEING? DO THE RIGHT THING. PLEASE.
We already have a mental crisis roaming our streets with homelessness. We can't add by stripping away to more people a basic necessity, it's immoral and inhumane.
As long as shelter in place is in effect is how long families should not be expected to pay rent if they cannot. In addition, families should not be expected to pay back that rent when they are able to return back to work. These are unknowing times and we should be protecting our community
People should be given the opportunity to resettle at a reasonable humane pace as well as be given adequate funding for their current situations. For this reason, I support the agenda item.
I support this agenda item and I hope
to see that in the coming weeks and months steps are taken to protect and provide assistants to our families being impacted by COVID-19. No family should be evicted in this time of uncertainty.
I support the extention of the eviction moritorium to go on for as long as shelter in place is in effect. I believe that all Fresno residents have the right to live dignified lives. Evictions are cruel and injust.
I support the agenda item. It’s in the hands of city council to implement policies that protect our communities during this time. How will families protect themselves agains COVID19 if they don’t have a clean secure home. Now more then ever we must protect one another. Let’s prioritize humanity.
I support this agenda item and ask that you protect vulnerable tenants. Nobody should be sheltering in place while worried about how they will pay their rent when the crisis abates. We do not need to compound our existing homelessness problem by ushering in a new era of housing insecurity.
I support extending the ordinance through the duration of the state of emergency and also modifying it according to the attached letter submitted by the coalition. Our community is extremely rent-burdened and vulnerable. We need stronger protections to avoid an unparalleled eviction crisis.

Support our families in this time of dire need.
A city in support of its people is one in support of itself.

I support the agenda item. Elimination of evictions and rent freezes are essential in times like these.
