My sister Nancy Youdelman and I grew up in Fresno, and we are both artists. Ray Rice, who created the Fresno airport mosaic mural, was a close family friend, and Nancy knew Clem Renzi at Fresno State, where she was a student of Judy Chicago. Nancy taught art, including sculpture and art history, at Fresno State for many years after undergrad work at CalArts and graduate work at UCLA. She has lectured and exhibited widely, internationally and in Fresno.

My own photographic works are in major collections, including the Smithsonian, MoMA, and the Met in New York. I'm also a graduate of CalArts, and I received a master's degree in visual studies from Harvard University.

We write as artists and as Fresnans who grew up in the era when the renowned Renzi was active here, to strongly convey our feeling that the Renzi sculpture "A Day in the Park," a major work by a great Fresno artist, be displayed at the Fresno airport, where it will signify to all the heart of our hometown's humanism and welcoming spirit.
