I tried reaching out to Advance Peace Fresno at least twice over the past couple years asking for an opportunity to help in some way. I'm a high school teacher of over 25 years and was hoping they would have some kind of volunteer role I could play. I heard nothing from them. Nothing. I don't know exactly how to interpret the silence but to suggest that if they are to continue, there are clearly administrative problems with the organization. Either the problems stem from the infrastructure of the nonprofit--including finances, leadership, communication, goals, organization, projects, etc--or there's something else at play. I don't know. But I would strongly suggest that the city bring in a third party audit of the entire nonprofit before we continue funding it with city money. Again, I am in complete support of the spirit of Advance Peace Fresno, and from what I initially read it seemed like they were headed in the right direction, but I do not think it is operating in a healthy way right now.
