Dear council, I have concerns about this applicant and her qualifications. I was informed that she didn't fill out an application and was sought by the mayor's office. That doesn't seem to be an appropriate means of appointing seats to a body as important as the plannign commission. I'm concerned that her job in commercial real estate would be a conflict of interest.
I had been made aware of another applicant for this position that has had far more experience in issues regarding envirnomental and transportation planning, 20+ years federal and state planning experience, budget planning and managing on a large scale, pertaining to the Planning Commission. I was told that she also wasn't interviewed by a panel involved with the planning commission, but by a single person at the mayor's office. The city needs the best people for a body with such difficult and important work and this doesn't seem to be the way to approach appointments. I ask that all of the applicants go through a thorough application and interview process that includes a panel that will ensure that everyone is fairly vetted and ensure that the good of all residents are considered, especially considering the precarious spot the city is in meeting the needs of south and west Fresno, not creating further negative environmental impacts, making room for afforable housing, and not leaving out low income and marginalize neighbors behind.
