I own a share of a downtown business, so I have a vested interest in Downtown Fresno.
I love the overall idea of this project, but have some recommendations for making it better:
-I would like to see taller buildings, at least 6 total stories (meaning another level of apartments), we only really get one shot at building "up" with this land.
-I would like to see more bike friendly infrastructure incorporated.
-I would like to see the Fresno mural relocated so it's still visible.
-I would like to see a Target Express with a CVS pharmacy inside in place of a full CVS.
I oppose the project as it currently stands. The Famous Fresno Stamp mural would be completely covered by the proposed parking garage. I'm fine with everything else except the drive-thru. Why not move the parking structure to a different lot such as the one on the corner of Tuolomne and Broadway?
The empty space could be a public gathering space that augments the famous mural rather than hide it from view. It could be used for Arthop, an extension of the indoor farmers market space currently proposed, or just a quiet little park.
