As budget discussions approach, we wanted to express continued appreciation for the City’s support of the growing roller hockey community at Cary Park.
With support from the City and Councilmember Tyler Maxwell, the Fresno Roller Hockey Foundation has helped transform the Cary Park inline rink into an active and consistently utilized recreational space. Since installation of the hockey boards, participation has continued to grow through consistent organized play.
This Thursday, May 21st, our league concludes its inaugural playoff season, organized entirely through volunteer leadership, fundraising, and community support.
The Fresno Roller Hockey Foundation is also one of the only organizations in recent history to consistently pay recurring rental fees for use of the inline rink, helping activate a previously underutilized public facility through organized recreation and community participation.
As conversations continue into the June budget season, we look forward to continuing discussions regarding long-term improvements to Cary Park, including a covered roof structure and improved sport court surface to increase year-round usability, safety, and recreation opportunities for Fresno families and athletes.
We appreciate the City’s continued support and look forward to helping grow this community asset together.
Respectfully,
Shaymus Banks
President, Fresno Roller Hockey Foundation
